Ramaya S. Thomas is an alumna of Atlanta International School as an IB scholar. She has founded and led many organizations such as We Spark Change, Atlantas MFOL chapter, Atlanta International Schools Black student union/Black student newspaper, and more. She is heavily involved in working with activism on police brutality, racial injustices, and systematic issues which can be seen through her community service, public speeches, and articles. She is a VOX journalist who writes about political issues and world news, while also still being an aspiring lawyer. She is passionate about political issues that concern the Black/African American community and lives by the motto "my voice as my power". Ramaya now attends Tennessee State University as an Honor college student majoring in Political Science (class of 2026).

Ramaya hasn’t always been this confident with public speaking and leadership. As a young child, she was scared to even look people in the eyes or stand up to speak in class due to this fear of failure. As Ramaya has grown, she's realized the benefits of failing forward and using disappointments to her benefit. This has helped mold Ramaya into the confident leader, speaker, and activist that she is. Ramaya has realized aiming for perfectionism is actually more detrimental than beneficial. Ramaya is very social, outgoing, and loves meeting new people.

Ramaya shares that her biggest inspirations have been her parents as they continue to push her to her highest potential, all steaming from love. They have created an environment where they embody “good better best, never let it rest, until your good becomes your better, and your better becomes your best". She loves traveling around the world and spending time with friends and family. In Ramaya’s free time she enjoys painting, listening to music, and binge-watching any show. She also enjoys reading a good book that pushes her to think, with some of these being The Souls of Black Folk by W.E.B Dubois, Race Matters by Cornel West, or dare to lead by Brené Brown. She shares that this pandemic (COVID-19) has taught her how to slow down and appreciate the many support systems she has around her, while also teaching her to love herself a bit more. Oftentimes she felt like she was serving so many other people but forgot to serve herself, which helped her realize self care and mental health are priority factors within her life. She shares the importance of self-prioritization and understanding that it’s okay for you to take a break. Ramaya keeps herself motivated by staying in tune with herself, journaling, spirituality, and consistent affirmations. Ramaya walks in every room, space, and program with the desire to spread and show love, ultimately to change this world.
